A Reiki session typically follows a structured yet intuitive flow, guided by the practitioner, in alignment with the client's individual needs and goals.
Introductions and Discussion: The session begins with the practitioner and client getting acquainted and discussing the client's reasons for seeking Reiki. This may involve sharing any physical or emotional issues they are experiencing, as well as their goals or intentions for the session.
Setting the Space: The practitioner creates a calm and inviting environment for the session, often dimming the lights, playing soft music, and using aromatherapy to enhance relaxation. The client may lie down on a massage table or sit in a comfortable chair, fully clothed.
Opening Meditation or Invocation: Some practitioners begin the session with a brief meditation or prayer to center themselves and invite in the healing energies of Reiki. This sets the intention for the session and creates a sacred space for healing to occur.
Hands-on Healing: The practitioner gently places their hands on or near the client's body, following a predetermined sequence of hand positions that correspond to the body's energy centers, known as chakras. The practitioner may also use intuition to guide their hands to areas of the body that need extra attention.
Energy Transmission: As the practitioner channels Reiki energy through their hands, the client may experience sensations such as warmth, tingling, or deep relaxation. The energy flows wherever it is needed most, helping to release energetic blockages, restore balance, and promote healing on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.
Quiet Reflection and Integration: Throughout the session, the client is encouraged to relax and receive the healing energy, allowing it to work its magic on a deep level. Some clients may enter a meditative state or experience insights, emotions, or memories as the energy clears and rebalances their system.
Closing and Grounding: Towards the end of the session, the practitioner gently brings the session to a close, thanking the client and the Reiki energy for their participation. Grounding techniques, such as deep breathing or visualization, may be offered to help the client return to a state of wakefulness and integration.
Reflection and Feedback: After the session, the practitioner and client may take a few moments to reflect on their experience and share any insights or observations. This can help deepen the client's understanding of the healing process and provide valuable feedback for future sessions.
Overall, a Reiki session is a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating experience that supports the body's natural ability to heal itself. Each session is unique, and the effects of Reiki may continue to unfold in the days and weeks following the session as the client integrates the healing energy into their life.
